Hey Floridians!!

AC systems don’t come with a list of “Remember to Do’s,” so we’re gonna help you out a bit with that!

It’s simple stuff, but not necessarily obvious.
So here we go with the…

3 Important Things to Remember to Do for Your AC system

REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR FILTERS

It’s so easy to forget, but it is one of the top reasons that your AC will freeze up and stop working. It only takes a moment to do and you won’t regret it. Changing your filter monthly will keep your air clean and avoid musty smells in your home. Most importantly it will keep your AC unit from becoming compacted with dust, over working and freezing up; causing temperatures to rise quickly and taking a serious toll on you system.

We know that when things get busy and life happens, maintenance tasks like this can get over looked so easily. So we found a solution! We now offer filter services and are happy to deliver a brand new filter to your door monthly! We will also send you a friendly text reminder once a month to make the change, and you can always count on our Facebook page to remind you monthly too!

RINSE YOUR CONDENSER WITH YOUR GARDEN HOSE

Believe it or not, just taking a second to rinse off your outside unit (condenser) after the lawn is cut, there is a big windy summer thunderstorm or any other event that can cover your unit in debris can make all the difference in the world!

Keeping proper air flow through the unit is crucial to the length of time the unit will last, the great job it does at cooling your home and even will negatively effect you electric bill by making your unit work overtime! It’s another simple one, but not super obvious.

CLEAR YOUR DRAIN LINE WITH A SHOP-VAC

During a full maintenance, this is one of the tasks that we complete for you. We actually use a special cleaner to get even more debris to come loose so that we can remove it. We suggest, as does all of the manufacturers, that you have  a professional AC company out to service your unit every six months. However, it will help you HUGE in the long run if you make it common practice to clear your drain line yourself every few months (we suggest 1-3 months) to ensure a well running, healthy system.

As your system ages, especially here in SWFL, gunk and grime will collect along the walls of your drain line. The drain line is the white pipe you see outside next to your unit. This drain is where all the condensation off of your indoor unit (air handler) drains. With dust collecting, air pollutants and time, the gunk gets thicker and thicker and eventually causes a clog. We have seen people spend $$ several hundred $$ fixing this issue that could easily be prevented if only they knew how too! That’s why it has made it to this list, IT REALLY IS THAT IMPORTANT!

And never forget to keep your air around 77° and get your 6 month system maintenance scheduled now.

And of course, remember to keep an eye peeled for future posts here. You won’t regret it!!
