Let’s talk Manufacturer’s Warranties.
When you decide it’s time to replace your system, most available AC’s come with a 10 Year Manufacturer Warranty. What this mean is if ANY part breaks in 10 years, it’s totally covered my the manufacturer. Most brands including RUUD, RHEEM and TRANE all offer these warranties.
What it doesn’t mean is that you will get the job done for FREE. Unfortunately the warranty doesn’t cover the cost of labor by the chosen company. However, in the State of Florida, HVAC companies are required by law to cover any labor costs for the first year… but plenty of homeowners don’t know this!
Another common misconception is that the 10 Year Warranty is automatically enacted with the installation of the system. This is incorrect. Make sure that your chosen contractor takes the time to register your new unit(s). If they don’t, make sure that you do! You are most likely to find the link to do so on the manufactures website
Rest assured that if you take care of your unit and make sure to have it maintenance every 6 months/change your filters monthly, your unit should long outlive it’s warranty!
So don’t forget to change your filters, keep your air around 77° and get your 6 month system maintenance scheduled now.
